BudE-21 was made during the Bog Jam 2025 game jam by Team Dandy Lion Café. It’s a simple game of Black Jack that tells a sweet story of an elderly gardener and her robot companion through the art on the cards. The comic-like storytelling through card art was inspired by Hanafuda, a traditional Japanese card game.
The narrative of Bud-E21 is told through illustrated cards you collect as you play. When arranged by number, the cards reveal 10 panoramas of Flora and her loved ones gardening. Each panorama focuses on a special plant and garden activity. (Transcript of cards below.)
